EVIL vs WICKED: A Dark Comparison
“Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil…” — Isaiah 5:20
“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” — Jeremiah 17:9
I. Introduction: Two Shadows, One Source
Though often used interchangeably, evil and wickedness are not identical. They are twin shadows cast by rebellion against YAHUAH, but they differ in depth, intent, and manifestation.
Evil is the broad category—anything that is morally corrupt, destructive, or opposed to divine order.
Wickedness is a specific flavor of evil, marked by intentionality, delight in rebellion, and spiritual depravity.
II. EVIL: The Broad Category of Corruption
Definition: Evil refers to any force, act, or condition that violates divine law and harms creation.
🔥 Characteristics of Evil:
Passive or Active: Can be the result of neglect (passive evil) or overt action (active evil).
Systemic or Personal: Evil manifests in systems (governments, institutions) or individuals (cruelty, hatred).
Spiritual Origin: Rooted in the satanic rebellion (Isaiah 14, Ezekiel 28).
Universal Impact: Evil distorts truth, love, justice, and life itself.
Example: A corrupt government exploiting the poor is evil. A bomb dropped on innocents is evil.
III. WICKED: The Willful Perverter of Good
AN EVIL PERSON WANTS TO GET HIGH. A WICKED PERSON WANTS TO GET YOU HIGH.KLS.
Definition: Wickedness is evil with a conscience—a knowing, willful, persistent rebellion against what is right.
😈 Characteristics of Wickedness:
Intentional: The wicked choose to do wrong—and often justify it.
Proud: Wickedness boasts in its sin (Psalm 10:3).
Creative in Sin: It invents new ways to offend God (Romans 1:30).
Unrepentant: The wicked do not stumble into sin; they dwell in it.
Example: A man who plots deceit to destroy another, knowing it’s wrong and doing it for pleasure or profit, is wicked.
IV. Biblical Distinction: EVIL vs. WICKEDNESS
V. Wickedness is a Covenant Violation
Wickedness is not just sin—it’s covenant betrayal. The wicked:
Mock the Most High.
Manipulate others for gain.
Profane what is sacred.
Seek to make others stumble.
“The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted.” — Psalm 12:8
VI. Evil Can Be Cured… Wickedness Must Be Cut Down
Evil people can be deceived, oppressed, or ignorant.
The wicked are hardened, defiant, and often serve Satan’s agenda knowingly or instinctively.
This is why Scripture speaks of the wicked being “cut off”, while sinners may be called to repentance and healing.
“Evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the Lord, they shall inherit the earth.” — Psalm 37:9
VII. Final Reflection: The Battle Lines Are Drawn
In today’s world, evil is everywhere—but wickedness is rising.
Evil spreads like a disease.
Wickedness spreads like a contagious ideology.
Evil destroys by default.
Wickedness destroys by design.
⚠️ Beware: The wicked often wear religious masks, sit in powerful seats, and quote Scripture to justify their evil. (See Matthew 23)
VIII. Prayer for Discernment
“Father YAHUAH, give us eyes to see evil, and wisdom to flee wickedness. Let us not be seduced by systems of sin or compromise with those who plot against righteousness. Raise up your people to stand in holiness, compassion, and power. In YAHUSHA’s Name, Amen.”
