DAY OF THE GENTILE
DAY OF THE GENTILE
1Pe 2:12 Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.
1Pe 4:3 For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:
3Jo 1:7 Because that for his name's sake they went forth, taking nothing of the Gentiles.
Rev 11:2 But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.
The picture Paul uses (simple but powerful)
He describes:
A natural olive tree → Israel (the original covenant people)
Natural branches → Israelites
Wild branches → Gentiles
Some natural branches were broken off
Wild branches were grafted in
What “grafted in” actually means
👉 Gentiles are brought into something that already existed
👉 They do not replace the original tree
That’s the first correction many people need.
Paul says clearly:
You don’t support the root—the root supports you
So:
The foundation (promises, covenant, structure) = already there
Gentiles are allowed to join, not redefine it
Why were branches broken off?
Paul is blunt:
👉 Unbelief
Not ethnicity. Not status.
Some of Israel:
Rejected
Became hardened
So they were “cut off” from that position of covenant participation.
Why are Gentiles grafted in?
👉 Faith
That’s it.
Not lineage. Not culture.
Faith gives access.
The warning (this is where it gets serious)
Paul directly warns Gentiles:
Don’t become arrogant.
Because:
If God didn’t spare natural branches
He won’t spare grafted ones either
👉 That ties directly back to what you said earlier about arrogance
So put it all together
Gentiles ruled (Daniel / Luke)
Many became prideful in power
Then later, Gentiles are invited into the covenant
But with a condition:
👉 Stay humble and in faith
What this does not mean
Let’s clear the confusion:
❌ It does NOT mean Gentiles replaced Israel
❌ It does NOT mean lineage doesn’t matter at all
❌ It does NOT mean everyone is automatically in
What it does mean
✔ There is one tree, not two
✔ Entry is through faith
✔ Position can be lost through unbelief
✔ No one has room to boast
Straight truth
If someone says:
“Gentiles are now the main thing”
They’re off.
If someone says:
“Gentiles have no place”
They’re also off.
The truth sits right in the middle:
👉 Invited in—but not in control of the root
The real takeaway for you
This isn’t just theology—it’s a warning pattern:
Power → pride → being cut off
Faith → humility → being established
That applies to anyone, grafted or natural.
If you want to go deeper, the next layer is:
👉 How this connects to the remnant of Israel and the “fullness of the Gentiles” in Romans 11

That’s where timing and prophecy really lock in.
