MEN LUSTED AFTER WOMEN AND FORGOT YAHUAH
There are numerous examples in Scripture where men allowed lust, unlawful desire, or misplaced affection for women to draw them away from obedience to YAHUAH. The issue was not women themselves, but men elevating their desires above God’s commandments.
1. Adam and Eve
Genesis 3:6-17
Adam was not deceived in the same way Eve was.
“And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.”
— 1 Timothy 2:14
Yet Adam knowingly followed Eve into disobedience rather than standing on YAHUAH’s command.
Result:
Sin entered the world
Death entered creation
Dominion was corrupted
2. The Sons of God
Genesis 6:1-4
“The sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.”
These men (or heavenly beings, depending on interpretation) were driven by beauty and desire.
Result:
Corruption filled the earth
Violence increased
The Flood came
Lust became a catalyst for global judgment.
3. Samson and Delilah
Judges 16
Samson repeatedly pursued foreign and ungodly women.
“Then went Samson to Gaza, and saw there an harlot...”
— Judges 16:1
Then came Delilah.
His desire overcame his discernment.
Result:
Lost his strength
Lost his eyes
Lost his freedom
Ultimately lost his life
4. Solomon
1 Kings 11:1-11
Perhaps the greatest example.
“But king Solomon loved many strange women...”
Scripture specifically says his wives turned away his heart.
“For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods.”
— 1 Kings 11:4
Result:
Idolatry entered Israel
The kingdom was eventually divided
Solomon’s latter years were marked by spiritual compromise
5. David and Bathsheba
2 Samuel 11
David was walking on the rooftop when he saw Bathsheba.
“And David sent and enquired after the woman...”
Lust gave birth to adultery.
Adultery gave birth to murder.
Result:
Uriah was killed
David’s household suffered continual turmoil
The child died
6. Shechem and Dinah
Genesis 34
Shechem became obsessed with Dinah.
“His soul clave unto Dinah...”
His desire was not governed by righteousness.
Result:
Defilement
Violence
Bloodshed
7. Amnon and Tamar
2 Samuel 13
Amnon lusted after his half-sister Tamar.
“Amnon was so vexed, that he fell sick for his sister Tamar...”
After violating her:
“Then Amnon hated her exceedingly...”
— 2 Samuel 13:15
Lust masqueraded as love.
Result:
Rape
Family destruction
Murder
Absalom’s rebellion
8. Ahab and Jezebel
1 Kings 16-21
Ahab allowed Jezebel to dominate and direct his spiritual life.
“There was none like unto Ahab, which did sell himself to work wickedness... whom Jezebel his wife stirred up.”
— 1 Kings 21:25
Result:
Idolatry
Persecution of prophets
National judgment
9. The Men of Israel at Baal-Peor
Numbers 25:1-9
“The people began to commit whoredom with the daughters of Moab.”
The women led them into idolatrous worship.
Result:
Twenty-four thousand died
Divine judgment fell upon Israel
10. King Rehoboam
1 Kings 14:21-24
Though not specifically driven by lust, he multiplied wives and concubines like other kings and abandoned the law of YAHUAH.
Result:
National decline
Foreign invasion
Loss of kingdom strength
The Pattern
James explains the progression:
“Every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin...”
— James 1:14-15
The recurring biblical pattern is:
Desire
↓
Compromise
↓
Disobedience
↓
Idolatry
↓
Judgment
The Counter-Example: Joseph
While many men fell because of lust, Joseph is the opposite example.
Genesis 39
When tempted by Potiphar’s wife:
“How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?”
— Genesis 39:9
Joseph chose YAHUAH over pleasure.
Adam chose the woman over God.
Samson chose the woman over God.
Solomon chose the women over God.
David chose the woman over God.
Joseph chose God over the woman.
That is why Joseph’s story ends in elevation rather than destruction.
“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom.”
— Proverbs 9:10
The biblical lesson is not that women are the enemy. The lesson is that whenever a man allows his desire for a woman to become greater than his devotion to YAHUAH, he places himself in danger of repeating the failures of Adam, Samson, Solomon, David, and countless others.
