Humility : A Dirty Word in Black America

Humility : A Dirty Word in Black America

Matthew 11:29 (KJV)
29Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

If one looks real close at the state of black society and male female relationships they would see a disturbing yet unconscious disdain for humility, lowliness, and obscurity in black America . This state is more  and more prevalent with each succeeding generation. We brothers and sisters hate humility with a passion. Not every black individual but as a nation, culture or body of people we loathe obscurity.

I personally feel this disease state is more prevalent in blacks because we have been rejected by the overall society so much that we have developed a deep seeded, twisted desire for acceptance by the overall Anglo Saxon western society and being humble would risk being " invisible" . That is the one thing blacks fear the most, obscurity. And being humble in many cases could lead to social obsolescence. This terrifies many of us to our spiritual core. We will do anything in order to be noticed. Whether good or evil. WE MUST BE SEEN. We must be NOTORIOUS.

Sisters , especially young ones , really have it bad. All one has to do now to confirm this is turn on these various reality shows such as Atlanta Housewives, Love and Hip Hop., and many more. We are constantly trying to make ourselves ultra successful and super fabulous.  The sisters who are infected with this spiritual toxin of pride and arrogance usually demand it from her lovers. He has to be a rough and tumble brother. A thug, a baller, or shot caller. He can't just be.

This creates a toxic social cycle of demand , satiation, and demand again. The man who loves a woman feels pressured to provide pleasure and entertainment at any costs if she has a high maintenance mentality and the distorted need to feel fabulous, because she has a deep fear of obscurity. This often leads the man , who in many cases is a thirsty simp to forego normal avenues of vocations and wealth building in favor of get rich quick schemes, crime, false dreams of fame in the vanity industries such as singing, rapping, or acting, or just drop out all together and try to find a woman who would cater to him, or be a "KEPT " man. Whatever the reason he foregoes the vocations that would help build a nation, such as carpentry, medicine, industry, engineering, finance and banking, real estate, manufacturing etc. These industries are not as glamorous and high profile as the vanity industry and therefore are shunned by too many brothers who are too concerned with notoriety.

This hurts the black nation economically and politically. Too much of our energy and ingenuity is focused on so called FABULOUSNESS and NOTORIETY which are not apt to nation building. We leave the nation building to others, we just want the fame. This is and has been a recipe for national failure and it must be reversed.
